My mind has been all over the place lately (for reasons you can likely guess) so I haven’t had anything to say that’s felt worth sharing on this Substack. Here’s a little poem from my notes app today so you know I still care about it. Thank you so much for being here, especially my paid subscribers who are helping me stay afloat in these challenging times. I love you.
I am (classic)
lying in the heat, pool-soaked and curious
about the guy on his back who isn’t
moving, while a golden hair (mine?)
seemingly wrapped around him
sways gently in the wind.
How long has he been there?
Did he stare into the sun while he was leaving
and was it a treat because we can’t do that normally?
Did he feel his work was done and was it
a welcome release?
What work should I be doing? Am I doing it?
It’s hard to know, but if I was
no one would have cared about this wasp.
I lie back, covering my face with a shirt
because it’s not my time yet.
Love this :)
It's been tough to find a balance between self-employed productive work time and enjoying this beautiful summer that feels like a rare gift these days. Happy to support you and hope you feel that creative spark coming back after this period of rest. <3
